Turning knowledge into action.

Together we must take actions that have a deeper and broader impact on our broken system, including the economic underpinnings of how companies work.

Consumer activism has a direct impact on the decisions individual companies make. Public policy advocacy helps change the rules that entire industries operate.

Consumer Activism
Consumer voices play an important role in how individual companies choose to operate. When we actively and consistently communicate about our values and expectations to a company, particularly when it comes to their products, positive changes can occur quickly. We've seen it happen first hand ourselves. Driving change at a company through consumer activism can require a relatively small number of comments, emails, reviews, etc. This strategy is particularly effective when individuals take the time to personalize their messages and focus on specific requests.
Public Policy Advocacy
Smart laws at the state and local levels create a baseline for ethical business across our economy. New laws help change behavior by all companies and are an important part of how we can transform the systems that help us meet the needs of our families. Changing and improving public policies are how we move the needle with the laggards in an industry. Unlike consumer activism, public policy advocacy requires more time and resources, and more voices the course of years rather than months. But the impact we have on the system can be much larger.

Opponents of Progress

Business voices are compelling when it comes to passing new laws. They can be very influential with legislators and elected officials. But companies can also use their power and resources, regardless of their stated reasons, to fight AGAINST passing new laws designed to protect your family and our planet. We call those companies "Opponents of Progress" and we think you have a right to know who they are and how they are using their influence.
